The Challenge

The client, a $15B food and beverage distribution company, needed to transform its existing enterprise planning, finance and operations into a centrally governed financial intelligence hub. The company was spending a large amount of time on manual tasks such as analysis, measurement, data collection and planning. Excel was the primary vehicle for these tasks and was fraught with errors and inconsistencies, which created lack of trust in the numbers.

What we did

With its expertise in IMB Cognos TM1 and having a resource that is a CPA that could both understand the technical and business needs, Cumberland Irving was easily able to assist the client to better manage its large data sets and train staff. Using TM1 Performance Modeler, Cumberland Irving was able to easily train 20 controllers across the U.S. to simplify all processes, as well as develop a reporting process through TM1 that could provide data in real-time versus a multi-week, manual reporting process.

Nirvana

Today, the client’s staff are proficient in the use of the solution. They have regained confidence in the financials and have been able to independently deploy new business intelligence reports. The organization has also achieved large financial reporting efficiencies compared to its manual Excel days of the past.
